Yingchuan City is situated in the middle of the Ningxia plain, with the Yellow River to its east and the Helanshan to its west. It has beautiful scenery, many famous resorts and ancient relics. It is one of the 100 famous historical and cultural cities in China.

 

Yinchuan is the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is the center of politics, economy and culture of the whole region. It has a land area of 4,399 square kilometers and a population of 928,000.

 

Yinchuan has a history of 1300 years. It is also called "Phoenix City. On the Monument of Ethnic Unity in the city, there is a flying silver phoenix, which is a symbol of this city. It is told that Yinchuan was first built in the Tang Dynasty (618AD), called Yinchuan City at that time . In the Song Dynasty, Dangxiang ethnic group established Taibaishang Kingdom in the north of China (called Western Xia in history). they had their capital here which was called "Xingqingfu". The kingdom lasted for about 189 years and created a brilliant Western Xia culture. In the next few dynasties, Yinchuan was always used to be the administrative headquarters of Ningxia.
